Turning The Hearts Of Fathers To The Children
“See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the LORD comes. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to the fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse” (Malachi 4:5,6).
From a biblical perspective a grandfather is a player/coach. Along with fathers, grandfathers role model and mentor a way of life for their family that is pleasing to God (see Psalms 103:17). Each “Practice” uses personal testimonies and insights to equip today’s fathers and grandfathers. When you reflect on the various commands—the responsibilities—which God has set for grandfathers and fathers regarding their families, you can break them down into three categories:
1. To direct them to live according to the way of the Lord (Genesis 18:19).
2. To role model for them how to serve as our Lord’s ambassadors (2Corinthians 5:18-20).
3. To lead them to heaven through a relationship with Jesus as their Lord (Revelation 20:12,15).
