Abraham,

The Father Of Discipleship

“If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise" (Galatians 3:2).

In order to understand the goals and purposes Jesus had in training disciples, there’s much we can glean from the life of Abraham. This isn’t just a minor biblical point. Grasping this relational connection with Abraham helps us who love and follow Jesus as Lord appreciate why He trained His disciples the way He did. If we’re to fulfill the call of Jesus to make disciples, we need to have formed within us certain traits patterned by our spiritual father, Abraham—traits which Jesus perfectly demonstrated to His disciples.
